Himan was born in Lisbon, Portugal. His passion for electronic music began in 2002. His unique take on house music stems from his love of dizzying rhythms and hypnotic flourishes of melody. Above all, his main goal is to get people dancing, smiling and generally having the time of their lives. This Portuguese producer has made some serious inroads in the international dance music scene, with his work being played by some of the biggest names in the business such as Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Âme, Ian Pooley, Joris Voorn, John Digweed, Deetron and Carl Cox. He has had his music remixed by Tiefschwarz, Patrick Chardronett, Brendon Moeller, Samuel L.Session, and Basic Soul Unit. His first taste of success came with the release of  “The Himan Experience” in 2009 on Swedish label Kant Recordings, whose “The Sky Above Me”, hit the top of the digital charts. One of the highest points of his budding career was signing to Connaisseur Recordings, where he had the pleasure of remixing Mutant Clan (Timo Mass & Santos) and Brendon Moeller. In October 2010 he signed a track to Galaktika Records, called “Inside You”, which was included in a compilation to celebrate the label’s fifth anniversary, alongside names such as Maetrik aka Maceo Plex, Iron Curtis and Chopstick, among others, however it was Himan’s track that caught people’s attention and it became the release’s biggest seller, once again hitting the top of the charts. In 2012 he released music on two of the world’s biggest dance music labels, Cocoon Recordings and Freerange Records. Sven Vath’s label selected one of his tracks for a compilation CD mixed by Joris Voorn, while Freerange Records released a various artists EP on vinyl, where Himan was paired with Milton Jackson and Jimpster. The beautiful “Empty Pocket” from that release was supported by names like Âme and Ian Pooley. In 2014 he released a 12” for a NYC based label called Resolute, with a Tiefschwarz remix on the flip side, which gave him a serious boost in notoriety. He also released “Rocket Science” on AMAM, in collaboration with his friend Pedro Aguiar, which was charted by Osunlade and hit the Beatport Tech House Top 20. His hypnotic melodies, irresistible groove and the transparency he puts into every track, have earned him the attention and interest of those with their ear to the ground. In Portugal he plays in the countries’ best clubs. He also frequently plays all over Europe (UK, Germany, Spain, Croatia etc) continually challenging crowds with his intense live act and passionate DJ sets. Last but not least, Himan runs Release Sustain Recordings, a label that is starting to make some serious waves. The east london label already has three sold out vinyl releases. The last one was a huge success and one of the tracks was included on the latest “Get Lost” compilation by Crosstown Rebels, curated by fabric resident Craig Richards, and hailed by Seth Troxler as the best compilation of the year. In other Release Sustain news, the mighty Art Department have chosen Fred P´s Remix of Brooks Mosher’s “Get Ready” for inclusion on a fabric compilation. For the future, Himan has a host of new releases planned and his re-vamped live act is something you will most definitely not want to miss.
