John-e was born in 1977 in Lisbon, but it was in Macau and Hong Kong where he got a taste for electronic dance music culture. He grew up with the British movement in the early 90s, and had the pleasure of following DJ’s like Lee Burridge in his early years, who made a name for himself by regularly destroying clubs like the “Big Apple” and the infamous “Fire” parties.
John-e was 16 when he scored his first “gig” in Coloane (Macau) and had residencies in clubs like UFO (Macau), I SPY (Hong Kong), SANTA FE (Thailand) Full Moon Party in Had Rin @ Paradise Bungalow (Thailand) Fully believing in his passion for the culture and the music, he decided to leave Asia in 1997 to look for new challenges and knowledge. Between 1998 and 2001 he settled in London where he played regularly at clubs like “414” and “George IV” and played at a few Techno festivals. London was definitely a hot spot back in the day, and he had the chance to explore several musical genres: from “Break Beat”, “Acid Techno”, “Progressive”, ” Minimal ”, “Deep House”, ”Disco” or ”Funk”, the thirst for knowledge led him to play a wide variety of music.
In 2001 he returned to his homeland, and today John-e is one of the figureheads of the underground movement in Portugal, with a 10 year residency at infamous club ”Europa” for over 10 years, he had the chance to explore his own style, and play a part in the birth of the best After-Hours club in the city. He quickly gained respect of local promoters and party regulars.
In 2002 he joined “Da Providers” a collective of DJ’s who revolutionised Portugal’s dance music scene, throwing the wildest parties at a host of creative venues with some of the most interesting acts in the international underground scene such as Infusion, Minilogue and many others.
In 2004 John-e joined forces with longtime friend Gustavo Rodrigues to form Stereo Addiction. The duo were a huge hit with portuguese crowds and quickly spread from small, intimate venues to huge festivals and clubs. Making a name for himself at home and abroad, John-e played at events like Rock in Rio, Creamfields, Southwest, Neo Pop, Boom, Exit (Serbia), Mountain Fresh (Japan), Atlantic Waves (London) among others. The list of names with whom John-e has shared the DJ Booth is way to long to list here but here are just a few: Underworld, Sasha & Digweed, Steve Bug, Infusion, 2ManyDJs, Sander Kleinenberg, Dave Seaman, Trentemoller among many others. Between 2005 and 2006 is nominated for best Newcomer DJ of the year by ” Danceclub ” magazine and Portugal Night magazine.

John-e is deeply devoted to the search of the best of every music genre, from intricate and deep mind trips, to tuff raw american house, to acid or minimal techno, as a raver himself, music production was never a must, although the times he decided to lock himself in the studio saw releases on Kismet Recordings, Vapour, Aroma Music, Global Scum, New Breed and Benthic. Today he maintains good relations in Berlin and London where has performed at clubs like Fabric, The Egg, Cargo, Plastic People, Fire, Ritter Butzke, Golden Gate, or Mikz.
Lately he is busy planing his ”Motion” residency at Europa Sunrise, working as a Dj and designer for LXMusic, and planing to get into serious production in 2016.
